The University of Reading is seeking a Campus Design Standards Manager to play a central role in shaping the visual and functional identity of its estate. This position sits within the Space & Asset Management Team and offers a rare opportunity to influence how people experience the University’s campuses every day.

From signage and wayfinding to internal and external design consistency, this role is about bringing clarity, coherence, and quality to a complex estate. What You’ll Be Responsible For

As Campus Design Standards Manager, you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and evolve design standards for internal and external campus spaces
  • Lead the redesign and ongoing management of the University’s signage and wayfinding strategy
  • Work closely with Estates colleagues and Creative & Print Services to ensure alignment with branding, accessibility, and user needs
  • Oversee projects to implement and monitor compliance with design standards across the estate
  • Manage signage and wayfinding data, budgets, and performance reporting
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all design standards-related enquiries

  • You will be a confident and organised professional who combines creativity with practicality. You are likely to bring:
  • Experience in stakeholder consultation, coordination, and project delivery
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office for reporting and data management
  • A degree or equivalent professional experience
  • The ability to work independently while influencing and collaborating across teams
  • A flexible, solution-focused mindset and the confidence to engage at all organisational levels

Desirable experience includes:

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work
  • Experience supporting change management initiatives
  • Understanding of higher education estates or commissioning design and print services
