Job Summary
As our services expand to deliver the highest standards of care and patient experience, we are seeking a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our Children’s Outpatients team.
You will support the day-to-day running of our clinics across Watford and Hemel Hempstead, ensuring children and families receive safe, efficient, and caring service throughout their visit.

Main Responsibilities
Support the smooth running of outpatient clinics across paediatric specialities
Prepare and restock clinic rooms, equipment, and trolleys
Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for children and families
Measure and record height, weight, head circumference, and blood pressure
Perform urinalysis and HbA1c testing in diabetic clinics
Carry out ECGs for consultants as required
Teach inhaler techniques (following in-house training)
Undertake spirometry and FeNO testing for respiratory clinics (after training)
Assist in venepuncture and phlebotomy procedures (training provided if required)
Follow infection control, health and safety, and child safeguarding protocols

Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 in Childcare/Health or equivalent experience
Trained and experienced in phlebotomy
Desirable:
Paediatric Basic Life Support certification
Experience in paediatric phlebotomy
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
Understanding of child protection and safeguarding
Awareness of health and safety standards
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
Desirable:
Knowledge of urinalysis and lung function testing
Familiarity with inhaler technique and allergy testing
Experience with hydrogen breath or lactose testing
Experience
Essential:
Previous experience working with children in a healthcare setting
Desirable:
Experience working in an outpatient or clinical environment
