Shape the Future of Accounting Research and Education
Henley Business School at the University of Reading invites applications for an Associate Professor in Accounting. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished academic with a strong and growing international research profile to contribute to one of the UK’s leading business schools.
We are seeking a scholar who demonstrates research leadership, produces work published in top-tier accounting journals, and is motivated to contribute to high-quality teaching, academic leadership, and collegial service within the Department of Finance and Accounting.
About the Department
The Department of Finance and Accounting comprises two closely aligned areas:
- Finance (The ICMA Centre)
- Accounting
As an Associate Professor, you will play a key role within the accounting group, contributing across research, teaching, and academic citizenship, in line with expectations at senior academic level.
Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead and conduct independent, high-impact research in accounting
- Build a coherent research agenda and actively pursue external research funding, aligned with UK research frameworks supported by
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) - Teach across undergraduate and pre-experience postgraduate programmes in accounting
- Contribute to module leadership, student supervision, and curriculum development
- Take on administrative and leadership responsibilities, supporting the academic community and departmental strategy
- Experience or interest in teaching Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Data Analytics in Accounting will be considered a strong advantage.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A PhD in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- Proven experience teaching at university level
- Expertise in data analytics applied to accounting
- A strong portfolio of peer-reviewed publications in leading accounting journals
- Evidence of academic leadership or the clear potential to develop it
