About the Role
The Department of Anthropology is seeking a part-time Assistant Professor to contribute to teaching and scholarship within Social Anthropology. This role is focused on education delivery and student support within a highly collaborative academic environment.
You’ll join a department recognised for its strong research profile and commitment to critical, interdisciplinary teaching. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to courses that explore key global issues such as identity, inequality, migration, and social justice.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deliver teaching across undergraduate and/or postgraduate Social Anthropology modules
Contribute to course design and module leadership where required
Supervise undergraduate dissertations and Master’s-level research projects
Support administrative and academic activities within the department
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a high standard of teaching and student experience
About You
You will be an engaged and collaborative academic with a passion for teaching.
Essential Requirements
- A PhD in Anthropology or a closely related discipline
Expertise in Social Anthropology, particularly in areas such as:
Race, ethnicity, and identity
Gender and related social themes
Ability to contribute to teaching at degree level
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable Attributes
- Experience delivering lectures or seminars in higher education
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching and research
Enthusiasm for contributing to a supportive academic community
