This internal opportunity sits within the University of Sussex admissions function and focuses on the operational management, development, and optimisation of admissions systems.
Working closely with the Senior Admissions Systems Manager and colleagues in Communications, Engagement and Advancement, you will help ensure that admissions systems run smoothly, evolve effectively, and continue to support a high-quality applicant experience.
The role blends systems administration, process improvement, stakeholder coordination, and technical documentation, supporting both day-to-day operations and longer-term system development.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support the daily operation and maintenance of admissions systems
Work with stakeholders to define and implement system enhancements
Draft and refine technical and functional system specifications
Coordinate testing of system updates before release into live environments
Maintain accurate records and audit trails of system changes
Identify opportunities to improve admissions workflows and applicant journeys
Provide super-user support across multiple admissions platforms
Assist in translating business needs into system requirements
Contribute to ongoing process improvement and service efficiency
You will also balance routine operational tasks with project-based work, ensuring systems remain stable, responsive, and aligned with institutional priorities.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of admissions operations and systems, along with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
You will likely have experience in:
- University admissions, scholarships, CAS compliance, or related student systems
Managing structured, high-volume administrative processes
Working with digital systems and data-driven workflows
Supporting system development or change implementation
You should also demonstrate:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in busy periods
Clear communication skills for varied audiences
Confidence in interpreting technical requirements and translating them into business needs
High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
