About the Role
The School of Engineering and Informatics at the University of Sussex is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor (Education & Scholarship Pathway) in Product Design.
In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of high-quality, innovative teaching across all levels of our Product Design programmes. This includes:
Lectures, seminars, and hands-on workshops
Supervision of final year design projects
Student academic support and mentoring
Engagement in design events (e.g., New Designers)
Participation in departmental activities such as admissions days and meetings
Experience in working with industry partners on live briefs is essential.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in design, with practical and academic experience in the following key areas:
Integrated Product Design (from research to concept development)
Human Factors and Ergonomics
Research Methods for Design and Communication
You should be able to plan and deliver engaging, high-quality teaching, and work collaboratively as part of a supportive and dynamic academic team.
Strong communication skills, a student-focused approach, and a willingness to contribute to the wider activities of the department are essential.
