About the Role

The School of Law, Politics and Sociology at the University of Sussex is seeking a passionate and committed Associate Professor in Politics to join our department on a part-time, fixed-term basis for six months. This appointment provides teaching and administrative support during a period of staff research leave.

This position sits on the Education and Scholarship pathway and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to undergraduate teaching, assessment, and student support. You will convene the module The Far Right and Politics of Immigration and deliver lectures and seminars for other modules such as Feminism and the Politics of Gender and The Neoliberal Age? Interpreting Modern Britain, alongside core politics modules.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD in Politics or a related discipline
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Research expertise relevant to the modules, including but not limited to: far-right politics, immigration, gender politics, or British politics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an academic team
  • Experience supervising students or contributing to curriculum design is an advantage.
