About the Role

The University of Sussex Business School (SPRU – Science Policy Research Unit) is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor (Education and Scholarship Pathway) in Energy Policy Studies / Energy and Climate Policy.

The postholder will contribute to teaching and curriculum development across both the MSc Energy and Climate Policy (on-campus) and the MSc Energy and Climate Policy (Online Distance Learning) programmes.

Teaching responsibilities will include modules such as:

Energy Justice

Energy and Economic Growth

Introduction to Energy Policy

Energy and Sustainability

Governing Energy Transitions

You will also be involved in postgraduate supervision, curriculum design, and other teaching-related activities, ensuring delivery of research-informed, high-quality education in energy and climate policy.

About You

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant field and have experience in teaching interdisciplinary, social science approaches to energy and climate policy.

Essential requirements include:

Strong knowledge of current debates, issues, and challenges in energy policy.

Ability to integrate perspectives such as energy transitions, energy justice, and sustainability.

A proven track record of teaching excellence with evidence of effective student engagement.

Commitment to innovative pedagogy and flexibility in teaching diverse student groups.

Experience in both online and face-to-face teaching.

A collaborative approach to working across disciplines.
