Join Our Outstanding Leadership Team

Whitmore High School is looking for an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to become a key member of our senior leadership team. If you’re a proven leader with experience at middle or senior level, and you’re excited by the chance to shape the future of a forward-thinking, high-achieving school, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

We want someone who can inspire others, drive improvement, and help us deliver the very best for every student.

What You will Bring to the Role

  • As Assistant Headteacher, you’ll play a central part in leading the school forward. Key responsibilities include:
  • Helping to deliver outstanding outcomes and high-quality provision for students across all year groups and phases.
  • Contributing to the school’s overall vision, values, policies, structures, and ways of working  and helping to communicate these clearly to the whole community.
  • Actively championing equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practices in everything we do.
  • Taking strategic and day-to-day leadership of important areas of school life.
  • Line-managing a group of middle leaders, holding them to account for standards in their departments and year groups, carrying out regular quality reviews, spotting strengths and areas for development early, and putting in place timely, effective support where needed.
  • Building a strong culture of collaboration — sharing best practice within our school and with other organisations to raise achievement for everyone.
  • Helping shape and deliver a rich, well-balanced curriculum that truly meets the needs and aspirations of all our students.
  • Upholding the highest expectations for behaviour, engagement, and respect, while ensuring our school remains a safe, calm, and supportive place for students and staff alike.
  • Taking particular responsibility for championing the progress, well-being, and personal growth of vulnerable students, those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and anyone at risk of underachieving.
  • Fostering strong, positive relationships across the entire school community staff, students, parents, and partners.
  • Supporting our safeguarding systems to ensure we meet (and exceed) all statutory requirements and follow best-practice standards.

  • Beautiful, modern building with top-class classrooms, resources, and facilities.
  • Supportive senior leaders who are genuinely invested in your professional growth and career progression.
  • A rich and varied programme of continuing professional development (CPD) tailored to help you thrive.

  • Complimentary annual flu vaccination.
  • Free access to our on-site gym.
