Job Description

Assistant Community Services Manager (Social Worker/AMHP) – Adult Social Services

We are seeking an experienced, registered Social Worker or Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) with a professional social work qualification (or equivalent) and a proven track record of post-qualification experience. You will need to demonstrate leadership skills in adult social services, including direct management experience and a strong ability to implement service improvements.

As part of a joint team funded by both Health and Social Care, you will be based in the Community Mental Health team offices. This role requires the ability to manage competing demands and effectively utilise your expertise in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Service Manager with delegated responsibilities, contributing to the delivery of community mental health services for adults.

Provide professional supervision, guidance, and support to staff, including recruitment, training, appraisals, and, where appropriate, performance management.

Ensure that financial support arrangements are cost-effective and that staff understand their roles and responsibilities regarding financial management.

Take responsibility for safeguarding investigations and act as the decision-maker when required.

Manage complaints as necessary, verify assessments, and authorise decisions where appropriate.
