About the Role
The University of Sussex is looking for an Assistant Admissions Systems Manager to support the effective operation and ongoing development of its admissions systems.
Working closely with the Senior Admissions Systems Manager and the wider Admissions Team, you will help ensure that systems run smoothly, meet user needs, and continue to evolve in line with institutional priorities. This role combines operational responsibility with project-based work, giving you the opportunity to influence how admissions processes are designed and improved.
You’ll play a key part in maintaining system performance, supporting enhancements, and ensuring that applicants and staff benefit from efficient, user-friendly processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of admissions systems
Assist in planning and implementing system improvements and updates
Gather requirements from stakeholders and help translate them into technical specifications
Test system changes before they go live
Monitor processes and maintain accurate documentation and audit trails
Work with colleagues across the University to identify system needs and improvements
Provide support and guidance to users with varying levels of technical knowledge
Balance routine operational tasks with project-based responsibilities
About You
You will be detail-focused, organised, and confident working across systems and teams.
You should have:
- Experience working with admissions systems or related areas such as enquiries, scholarships, or CAS compliance
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
An analytical approach to problem-solving and process improvement
Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
Confidence working independently as well as collaboratively
You should also be comfortable handling routine, high-volume tasks especially during busy admissions periods while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
About the Division
This role sits within the Communications, Engagement and Advancement (CEA) division, which plays a key role in attracting and supporting students.
The team works closely with academic schools and global partners to strengthen student recruitment, engagement, and long-term relationships with alumni. Their work contributes directly to the University’s growth and success.
