About the Role
Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is seeking an Anatomy Facility Manager to lead and oversee the delivery of high-quality technical services in anatomy. Joining our award-winning team, which supports teaching for more than 1,000 students each year, you will manage the daily operations of the Anatomy Facility, ensuring excellence in teaching, research, and continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for managing specialist teaching and research areas, ensuring services are efficient, compliant, and responsive to the needs of staff, students, and visitors. This includes ensuring adherence to legislation and University policies, providing practical guidance, and developing training for staff.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and line-managing the technical team, including training and development.
Developing strategies to expand facility activities, including income generation and partnerships with industry.
Maintaining safety compliance, producing risk assessments, SOPs, and health and safety documentation.
Overseeing equipment maintenance and contributing to health and safety committees.
Acting as the primary link between academic, technical, and administrative colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery.
About You
You will be educated to degree level (Level 6) or equivalent, with strong technical knowledge of anatomical facilities and techniques. With proven management experience, you will be confident leading a small team, delivering high standards, and driving continuous improvement.
Essential skills and experience include:
Strong organizational, planning, and project management abilities.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain policies and procedures clearly to different audiences.
Experience building effective working relationships and influencing others to achieve results.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, with sound decision-making skills.
Knowledge of University systems, relevant legislation, and health and safety regulations, including the Human Tissue Act (2004).
Experience in management and data handling.
Desirable qualities include:
Postgraduate qualifications.
Knowledge of higher education and University financial regulations.
Experience in developing strategic income generation.
