About the Role

We are currently recruiting an Administrative Support Assistant to provide high-quality administrative support to a team of clinicians in the Surgical Department at University Hospital Wishaw. The role is essential to ensuring that clinical teams can operate efficiently and deliver excellent patient care.

You will work in line with NHS Lanark shire’s standard operating procedures and play a vital part in supporting the wider healthcare service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive admin support to clinicians

  • Organize and manage clinical documentation and correspondence

  • Use internal IT systems to input and manage data accurately

  • Assist in maintaining efficient day-to-day office operations

  • Communicate effectively with patients, clinicians, and colleagues

  • Carry out audio typing and other secretarial tasks as required

Essential Criteria:

  • SVQ Level 2 in administration (or equivalent experience)

  • Previous experience in healthcare admin or a secretarial role

  • Understanding of medical terminology

  • Strong IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a team and adapt to change

  • Audio typing skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a busy medical or clinical environment

Contract Details:

  • 12-month fixed-term post (may be extended or become permanent)

  • Second meant opportunities available for existing NHS Lanark shire staff – written managerial approval required before applying
