Make a Difference in Older Persons Mental Health Care
Are you passionate about mental health and ready to take on a rewarding new challenge? Roseberry Ward, a 15-bedded mixed-sex functional inpatient unit, is looking for a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our dedicated team.
Whether you are an experienced nurse or newly qualified, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a service that places patient care at the heart of everything we do. Student nurses who are due to register in the next three months are also encouraged to apply.
We provide full preceptorship and training programmes to support your confidence and professional development in this specialist area.
Role and Responsibilities
As an RMN on Roseberry Ward, you will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working alongside:
- Nurses and healthcare assistants
- Psychologists
- Physiotherapists and occupational therapists
- Other allied health professionals
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering direct patient care, including medication administration, observations (including physical health), and one-to-one support.
- Coordinating and prioritising ward activities during your shift.
- Acting as nurse in charge, depending on experience.
- Supporting patient recovery through structured therapeutic and vocational activities.
- Engaging with patients, families, and carers to promote person-centred care.
- Participating in clinical supervision, ongoing training, and professional development opportunities.
- Shifts cover 12-hour rotations, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, ensuring safe and continuous care for patients.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) as RNMH or RNLD
NMC Registration
- Recognised as a Practice Assessor/Mentor or willing to achieve this within an agreed timeframe
- Trained as a Clinical Supervisor (within 6 months of probation)
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
Experience
- Working with patients with mental ill health, preferably in inpatient settings
- Delivering person-centred, therapeutic care
- Experience collaborating with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Working in partnership with external agencies and community services
Knowledge and Skills
- Evidence-based knowledge of best practice in mental health care
- Clinical risk assessment and management
- Understanding of clinical governance principles
- Excellent communication skills, capable of handling sensitive information
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, and motivate team members
- Experience in physical intervention techniques (following training)
- Recovery-focused practice and commitment to patient empowerment
Desirable:
Knowledge of research methodologies and psychological models of care
