Are you passionate about the advancement of the pharmacy profession and enthused about the current advancements in pharmacy education? Do you have relevant experience and new techniques to delivering cutting-edge science that will support the key skills of the future pharmacy workforce?

If you are interested in helping the next generation of pharmacy students meet the new educational standards and developing the resilience of prescribing within the pharmacy arena, please contact the Pharmacy team at Teesside University for an informal discussion about joining our team (at s.weston@tees.ac.uk).

The present staff is hoping to expand as it works towards certification of an MPharm programme with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Our facilities and environment at the Middlesbrough Campus have been transformed by a £300 million investment and capital development strategy to support the construction of exceptional, innovative academic courses in which our work is relevant and purpose-driven.

We think that innovation propels us forward and are driven to make a difference through positive social impact. We collaborate with individuals, corporations, and Foundation Trusts to develop innovative solutions that are not limited by imagination. We work quickly and are always looking ahead, with our teaching, learning, and research geared towards addressing tomorrow’s concerns today.

Applications are welcome from all sections of the pharmaceutical workforce, as the SHLS team recognises the importance of a diverse range of practice experience in developing our brand-new curriculum, with the goal of producing graduates who meet the demands of future employers. If you have little prior experience, you will be helped to make the transfer into the academic workforce.

This position is available as a Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice contract (PHD not required), which allows staff to focus their work on industry engagement in addition to teaching, or an Academic Contract (PhD required), which allows staff to contribute to the School’s growing research activity while teaching.

You should have a first degree and a master’s degree in a discipline comparable to the disciplines taught in a pharmacy curriculum, and practical job experience in the pharmacy sector would be beneficial to your application. A PhD in a relevant field is considered a good qualification. You will use your specialised skills to help with teaching, knowledge exchange, enterprise, and business involvement.

Applicants must have (or be prepared to get) a suitable teaching qualification, often within two years of employment, such as PGCHE/Higher Education Academy (Associate Fellow/Senior Fellow) certification, and be a current member of a relevant professional association.

In their application Supporting Statement, applicants should explain how their current and previous experience relates to our necessary and desired requirements.

Please be aware that according to the UKVI’s minimum income limits, this position may be eligible for University sponsorship via the Skilled Worker visa route.

If you are selected, your interview will be conducted in person. Please keep in mind that as part of the recruitment process for this position, the University may request that you participate in a variety of selection activities.

The school has two open positions, both of which are available as a job share.
