Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) – Health Visitor
Central and North West London (CNWL) NHS Foundation Trust is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for registered nurses and midwives to advance their careers by enrolling in the SCPHN Health Visiting course. This joint programme with King’s College London combines clinical practice with university-based learning, allowing you to develop expertise in supporting children and families.
As health visiting evolves to meet the diverse needs of our community, this is an exciting time to join us. In collaboration with the London Borough of Camden, we provide the Healthy Child Programme, delivering essential services to families across Camden.
Key Information:
Eligibility: You must be a registered nurse or midwife with active registration and a passion for improving the health of children and families. The course is a Level 7 (Master’s Degree) programme—please refer to the person specification for further application details.
Start Date: September 2025.
Contract: You will be offered a fixed-term, full-time contract for the duration of the programme (1 year).
Sponsorship: You will receive Band 5 salary sponsorship during your studies.
Course Structure: The course runs from September 2025 to September 2026, with 50% academic study and 50% practical placements in Camden.
Travel: Applicants must be able to use public transport to commute to work and attend placements.
This role is designed to build on your existing knowledge and skills as a nurse or midwife, advancing your practice to achieve an academic qualification, as well as a registerable qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Funding & Eligibility:
This is a fully funded training opportunity, subject to funding availability from Health Education England. It is open to all qualified nurses and midwives seeking to qualify as a registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor).

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Safety: Contribute to safe and effective services by using clinical judgment and risk assessments to ensure the safety of service users.
Safeguarding: Recognise and respond to signs of abuse, escalate concerns as needed, and act as an advocate for service users.
Quality Improvement: Reflect on practice, identify areas for improvement, and work with colleagues to enhance safety and quality.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and legible records, ensuring compliance with mandatory training and NMC regulations.
Supervision: Oversee the work of others and participate in creating a culture of continuous improvement.
As part of the NMC Code of Conduct, all Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (Health Visitors) must be registered with the NMC each year and adhere to its standards of practice.
