This role is ideal for Internationally Educated Midwives currently residing in the UK, with IELTS or OET, CBT, and a current full NMC pin after completing OSCE.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care throughout the maternity care pathway.
  • Communicate information clearly and impartially to support informed decision-making.
  • Work in partnership with families to assess needs, plan, implement, and evaluate care, ensuring equality, diversity, and rights are considered.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation in accordance with NMC standards.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies when complex needs arise.
  • Continuously assess risks and deviations from normal and ensure timely referral, intervention, and escalation.
  • Develop individualised care plans that reflect the diverse needs of women and their families.
  • Participate in the provision of public health education.
  • Provide health and parenting education to families, either individually or in groups.
  • Involve women in decision-making regarding all aspects of pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care.
  • Participate in departmental team meetings and committees as needed.
  • Work flexibly across various wards and departments as required.
  • May be required to participate in on-call rotas where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust policies to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
  • Maintain professional and effective communication with women, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Work within national and local midwifery practice guidelines.
  • Escalate concerns regarding professional practice to the appropriate authority.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies to provide tailored care for complex cases, such as safeguarding, domestic abuse, or substance misuse.
  • Adhere to the local Trust uniform policy and maintain professional conduct at all times.

Leadership & Collaborative Working:

  • Serve as a clinical role model to colleagues.

Governance:

  • Report clinical and operational incidents through the Trust’s incident reporting system.
  • Address complaints and feedback appropriately, escalating as necessary.
  • Actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives and Trust audits.
  • Work within local and national guidelines, escalating any deviations immediately with clear rationale.
  • Participate in investigations related to incidents or complaints as needed.
