JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join our Psychology department at the Langford Centre and work 37.5 hours per week on our acute wards.
The Langford Centre, located in Bexhill on Sea, is a highly rated mental health institution that treats 76 service users with various disorders across six wards.
As a Clinical Psychologist, you will provide a specialised service, conducting examinations and evaluations to apply psychological interventions. Allowing for the effective execution of our psychology programme.
The responsibilities of the Clinical Psychologist position include:
- You will be in charge of conducting psychological interviews, extracting data from self-report measures, rating scales, psychometrics (where applicable), direct and indirect structured observations, and so on.
- Conduct psychotherapy assessments.
- You must be adept at risk assessment and management.
- You will be responsible for administering and evaluating psychological exams, as well as providing sensitive comments.
- Develop and implement strategies for formal psychotherapy intervention and/or management of a client’s mental health issues.
- To be in charge of assessing, developing, and implementing psychotherapy programmes in a certain clinical area.

About you, the successful clinical psychologist.
Essential
- Professional registration as a psychologist with the HCPC
- Experience identifying challenging behaviour, determining underlying functions and requirements, and developing behavioural or therapeutic strategies accordingly.
- Proficiency and experience in administering psychometric tests, incorporating results into assessment and formulation, and designing care packages.
- Experience with the Care Programme Approach (CPA).
- Experience with indirect clinical practice, such as collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support therapeutic interventions with service users.
Desirable
- Post-qualification training in one or more therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy, and Systemic Psychotherapy.
- Worked with service users from many ethnic backgrounds.
- Experience teaching, training, and supervising members of other professions, such as nurses and therapeutic care workers.
- Experience leading therapeutic groups for service users with mental health issues.
- Experience dealing with people in a rehabilitative context.
