About the Department
The Finance Department works as a trusted business partner, collaborating with Colleges and Professional Services to provide outstanding service that aligns with the University’s strategic goals.
We are responsible for producing, analyzing, and distributing financial and business information, offering advice to enhance the University’s financial performance. Our team oversees all financial transactions across the University and plays a key role in producing the annual statutory accounts.
About the Role
As an essential member of the Finance team, this role plays a critical part in managing the University’s financial activities. Reporting to the Head of Financial Performance Management, you will oversee financial planning and monitoring across various Colleges and Departments. You will lead the monthly Management Accounting cycle, prepare budgets, and submit forecasts, providing insightful analysis and commentary to support decision-making by budget holders and University managers. Your role will drive sustainable financial performance.
You will be responsible for delivering high-level financial and business information, providing direction and advice to internal stakeholders, identifying and managing risks, and ensuring financial integrity across operations. You will also manage a small team and collaborate closely with designated College and Professional Service departments.

About You
We are looking for a qualified accountant to join our Business Accounting Support team. The ideal candidate will be proactive and possess strong interpersonal skills, enabling them to build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels, including senior managers.
Experience in Higher Education or Further Education Funding and Accounting – including Research, Innovation, and Commercial funding – is highly desirable.
