Job Description

Project Manager – Digital Education Service (Hybrid/Flexible Working Options Available)

This role will be based on the University campus with the potential for hybrid working. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

The University of Leeds is ranked among the top 80 universities worldwide, with a global community of over 39,000 students from 170 countries and more than 9,000 staff from 100 different nationalities. Since our founding in 1904, we have built a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in our top-tier student education and world-leading research that drives positive change globally.

Within the Digital Education Service, we support the University’s 10-year strategy for expanding fully online education by providing specialist expertise in online learning design and development. Our goal is to create engaging, accessible, and inclusive learning experiences, supported by innovative digital pedagogies and technologies. We collaborate with academic partners, learners, and cross-functional teams using a solutions-focused, design-led approach backed by evidence.

About the Role:

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving online education projects through their entire lifecycle – from design and development to delivery. This includes managing full degree programmes, modules, microcredentials, short courses, and other online learning offerings.

You will leverage your experience in managing complex, high-profile projects to ensure successful delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives. With expertise in best practice project methodologies, you will proactively manage the progress of online education projects, overseeing teams and working closely with academic colleagues, senior stakeholders, and external partners. You’ll play a pivotal role in managing work packages, ensuring that specialist teams meet project deadlines, quality standards, and budget constraints. Additionally, you will provide project management expertise to operational activities within the Online Learning team, leading specific projects and contributing to service improvements that align with the Service’s strategic goals.

We are a large, collaborative team committed to delivering high-quality online education. We work flexibly to understand both learners’ needs and academic goals, partnering to ensure an effective and enjoyable online learning experience that supports student success.
