Programme Financial Controller – Open Fan Technology Project

We are excited to introduce a pivotal new role in the introduction of cutting-edge technology within Dowty Propellers, a GE Aerospace company. The Programme Financial Controller will play a critical role in managing, planning, and controlling the financials for a multi-million-dollar Open Fan technology project.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to ensure the financial health and compliance of this high-profile programme. This role requires strong expertise in project accounting, financial reporting, and tracking costs across various project components, such as labour, materials, subcontracting, and purchase orders using our ERP system.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Lead Programme Manager, project managers, engineers, senior leadership, and other functions to ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to leverage your background in financial management for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, focusing on financial cost control, reporting, risk and opportunity management, and ensuring timely and accurate weekly/monthly financial updates.

Some domestic and international travel may be required to support partnerships with customers, suppliers, and engineering service providers.

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the programme budget, including regular forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial insights during project proposal stages, including cost estimation, pricing strategy, and risk management.
  • Analyze complex financial data and propose solutions to address both day-to-day and more intricate project-related financial issues.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews to support decision-making and maintain the project’s financial health.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, variance analysis, and project dashboards to GE Aerospace stakeholders, including the NPI Programmes Leader and senior management.
  • Manage financial transactions related to the project, including invoicing, payments, and cost allocations.
  • Ensure that financial records comply with company policies, GAAP, and industry standards.
  • Enhance the project accounting system to track costs, revenue, and profitability by project work package, phase, and component.
  • Identify financial risks and collaborate with project management teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop financial models and tools to support ongoing programme management decision-making.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure robust financial controls and process compliance.
  • Perform monthly budgeting, forecasting, and cost control activities to ensure the project’s financial health.
  • Work closely with project teams to identify and mitigate risks related to schedule and cost.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in project scheduling and cost control processes.
  • Provide input to bid and proposal estimates by supporting the work breakdown structure methodology to estimate labour and material requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and incorporate lean initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Effectively communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments to stakeholders.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Proven experience in project accounting and financial management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software/ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with customers.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
