About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated Research Support and Bidding Officer to join our Research Support team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enabling our researchers to reach their full potential by providing essential support in applying for external funding. You will assist academic and research staff in transforming research ideas into viable and fundable projects. Additionally, you will help develop and prepare bid documentation and support various administrative tasks such as preparing and reviewing project budgets.

About You

You will bring a solid understanding of the university’s research landscape, with a strong background in academic research support. You should have a degree (or equivalent experience), excellent communication skills, high integrity, and the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively. An understanding of funding sources for research and experience with successful bidding or tendering processes is essential.

You should also have experience in preparing reports, performing desk-based research, using databases, and managing stakeholder relationships. Familiarity with financial systems and project budget administration will be advantageous.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

You will be joining the expanding Directorate of Research and Knowledge Exchange, a dynamic team that includes the Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise team, Research and Innovation Funding Services, Research Support, the Graduate School, and the Institutes of Public Safety and Criminal Justice and Social Impact and Innovation. This Directorate works closely with faculties, institutes, and professional services to support the university’s research and knowledge exchange objectives, including the commercialization of research and enterprise activities. It also oversees the university’s REF, KEF, and aspects of the TEF submissions.
