Job Description
GE Aerospace is seeking an experienced Test Systems Technical Lead to drive the design, development, and delivery of advanced test solutions for aerospace power distribution and control systems.
This role sits within a highly collaborative Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT), where you will take ownership of end-to-end test system development—from early concept definition through to certification, deployment, and in-service support.
You will play a key leadership role in ensuring that all test systems meet strict safety, regulatory, and performance standards while supporting cost, schedule, and quality objectives across global aerospace programmes.
Role Overview
As the technical owner for test systems within your assigned area, you will lead engineering activities that support both product development and production testing environments.
Your responsibility will include ensuring that test solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with aerospace certification standards while enabling efficient product verification and manufacturing readiness.
You will also act as a key interface between engineering, manufacturing, programme management, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of integrated test solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Test System Ownership
- Lead the full lifecycle of test systems from requirements capture to final deployment and in-service support
Define and manage technical requirements in alignment with customer, regulatory, and internal standards
Ensure test systems support qualification, EMC testing, system verification, and production readiness
Apply engineering standards such as DO-160 and MIL-STD-461 for compliance and validation
2. Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Own the technical direction of test system design and implementation
Ensure robust engineering practices are applied throughout design and verification stages
Collaborate with Designated Technical Authorities (DTA) and Chief Engineer teams on system architecture
Apply Design-to-Cost (DTC), Design for Manufacture (DFM), and Design for Test (DFT) principles
Resolve complex engineering challenges using subject matter experts where needed
3. Programme Delivery & Project Support
- Support planning, scheduling, and budget management for assigned technical work packages
Help define scope, milestones, deliverables, and engineering estimates
Monitor progress against programme objectives and highlight risks or scope changes early
Contribute to programme reviews, forecasting, and risk management activities
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as the primary engineering interface for programme and project managers on test systems
Work closely with hardware, software, systems, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and lab teams
Support customer and certification discussions relating to test capability and system readiness
Coordinate with production teams to ensure smooth transition from development to manufacturing test environments
5. Governance, Quality & Documentation
- Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, traceable, and compliant with engineering standards
Maintain configuration control across requirements, design outputs, and verification evidence
Participate in technical reviews and design governance boards
Provide technical impact assessments for change requests and engineering modifications
6. Leadership, Mentoring & Team Development
- Lead and mentor engineers working on test system development
Provide coaching, feedback, and technical direction to support professional growth
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Support Lean initiatives and drive efficiency improvements in test system design and delivery
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Software, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
Strong background in test systems engineering, integration, or validation
Experience in safety-critical or aerospace environments
Knowledge of qualification and EMC testing practices
Familiarity with aerospace and defence standards such as DO-160 and MIL-STD-461
Proven experience leading technical delivery within engineering programmes
