Dowty, part of the globally recognised GE Aerospace, is looking for an experienced Project Engineer – Product Support to join its growing aerospace engineering team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in customer engineering, technical project delivery, airworthiness support, reliability improvement, and operational problem-solving within a dynamic aerospace environment.
About the Opportunity
As a Project Engineer within Product Support, you will act as the technical focal point for a designated aircraft platform, ensuring engineering activities align with customer requirements, operational priorities, and regulatory standards.
You will lead engineering investigations, coordinate technical solutions, and support improvement initiatives focused on reliability, safety, performance, and cost optimisation.
The role combines technical leadership, customer interaction, project management, and cross-functional collaboration, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy both strategic and hands-on engineering responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Product Support
- Lead technical activities for your assigned aerospace platform
Act as a customer advocate, ensuring operational concerns are addressed effectively
Support in-service products, production operations, and maintenance programmes
Manage customer support activities including concessions and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) requests
Coordinate technical investigations and safety-related assessments
Develop practical engineering solutions that meet operational and regulatory requirements
Project & Programme Management
- Deliver engineering projects focused on reliability improvements, cost reduction, and product enhancement
Build and lead integrated project teams across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and supplier functions
Develop project schedules, scope definitions, budgets, and risk management plans
Ensure projects are delivered within contractual, technical, and financial expectations
Support strategic planning activities including forecasting, resource planning, and funding requirements
Prepare technical estimates and statements of work for external engineering support where required
Engineering & Compliance
- Support airworthiness activities and continued safety compliance for aerospace products
Manage test programmes to validate design modifications and engineering changes
Ensure all technical documentation is completed in accordance with company standards and customer expectations
Participate in technical reviews, programme reviews, and customer meetings
Use operational, reliability, and financial data to identify improvement opportunities across products and services
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Experience working with complex, safety-critical engineering systems
Knowledge of aerospace airworthiness regulations and compliance requirements
Strong project management and technical leadership capabilities
Experience leading cross-functional teams in engineering or manufacturing environments
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
The ability to manage technical priorities within fast-paced operational settings
A willingness to travel internationally when required
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Equivalent industry experience will also be considered

Security Clearance & Right to Work
This role requires successful completion and maintenance of Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance due to the nature of the aerospace and defence-related work involved.
