Medivet Orrell Park is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated Veterinary Surgeon with a strong interest in cardiology to develop a focused clinical caseload within a modern, well-supported practice environment. This role is designed for someone who wants to grow their expertise in cardiac medicine while still enjoying the variety and stability of general practice work.
You will have the freedom to shape and expand cardiology services locally, supported by an experienced clinical team and a wider referral network, allowing you to progress from interest to specialist-level confidence over time.

Role Overview

This position combines general practice responsibilities with a dedicated focus on cardiology development. You will gradually build a structured cardiology caseload, supported by advanced diagnostic tools and access to referral-level expertise when required.
You will also collaborate closely with the Lead Veterinary Surgeon to influence clinical direction and contribute to service development within the practice.

Clinical Environment & Facilities

Medivet Orrell Park is a newly refurbished and well-equipped practice designed to support both routine and advanced veterinary work.

On-site facilities include:

  • Digital X-ray imaging
  • Ultrasound diagnostics
  • Dedicated dental suite
  • Modern laparoscopy equipment
  • Strong GP clinical support team

In addition, you will have direct access to Medivet Alder 24-hour Hospital, enabling advanced imaging, complex case management, and continuous inpatient care support. This ensures continuity for cardiology patients requiring extended monitoring or specialist intervention.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time role
  • 4 days per week
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality consultations and surgical care
  • Develop and manage cardiology-focused cases
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic investigations
  • Create tailored treatment and management plans for patients
  • Work closely with senior clinicians to refine clinical pathways
  • Maintain excellent standards of veterinary practice and compliance
  • Contribute to clinical development within the Medivet network
  • Support knowledge sharing across veterinary teams

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who is both clinically confident and eager to develop a specialist interest in cardiology.

Essential qualities:

  • Qualified MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon
  • Strong foundation in small animal general practice
  • Interest or experience in cardiology
  • Good diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative approach
  • Passion for continuous professional development
  • Strong communication and client care skills
