About the Role

An exciting academic opportunity is available for a Clinical Lecturer in Endocrinology and Diabetes, aligned with the NIHR Dementia research theme. This role sits within Brighton and Sussex Medical School and is delivered in partnership with University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

This position is ideal for a specialty trainee aiming to build a long-term career in clinical academia. It offers a structured pathway to develop independent research alongside ongoing clinical training, particularly at the intersection of metabolic health, ageing, and dementia.

What You’ll Be Doing

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Deliver supervised clinical care in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Royal Sussex County Hospital
    Continue specialty training aligned with national curriculum requirements
    Optional participation in on-call duties, depending on training needs and agreement

Academic Responsibilities

  • Conduct research within the Department of Clinical Neuroscience
    Collaborate with the Centre for Dementia Studies and CEDAR research lab
    Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences
    Contribute to grant applications and future research development
    Support teaching activities and mentor junior trainees or students
