Medivet Dorchester 24 Hour is a modern, recently upgraded veterinary hospital delivering round-the-clock care. It supports multiple surrounding practices, meaning you’ll encounter a diverse and interesting caseload—from routine consultations to complex referrals.

The Working Environment

You’ll be part of a collaborative and experienced team that includes vets with advanced certifications in areas such as cardiology, imaging, dermatology, and emergency care. This creates a workplace where learning is continuous and support is always available.

The hospital is equipped with advanced facilities, including:

  • CT scanning for in-depth diagnostics
    Laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery
    Digital X-ray and ultrasound imaging
    Endoscopy and dental radiography
    On-site laboratory services
    Dedicated surgical theatres
    Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy services
    Separate wards for dogs and cats (cat-friendly accredited)
    24/7 emergency and critical care support

Your Role

In this position, you’ll balance general practice responsibilities with hospital-based care. Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Carrying out consultations and surgical procedures
    Creating tailored treatment plans in partnership with pet owners
    Managing inpatient care and follow-ups
    Collaborating with colleagues on complex cases
    Maintaining high clinical and professional standards

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • At least 2 years of UK veterinary experience
    Registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
    Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
    Confidence in both routine and more advanced clinical cases
    A team-oriented mindset

Working Pattern

  • Full-time: Around 39 hours per week
    Includes a fair rota with 1 in 6 weekends
    Flexible or part-time arrangements can be discussed
