Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and motivated Registered Children’s Nurse to join a paediatric team delivering high-quality care to infants, children, and young people.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care Delivery

  • Provide safe, effective, and child-centred nursing care.
    Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual care plans.
    Carry out clinical procedures and ongoing patient assessments.

Monitoring & Safety

  • Observe and respond to changes in a child’s condition.
    Escalate concerns promptly and appropriately.
    Administer medications safely in line with guidelines.

Communication & Family Support

  • Build strong relationships with children and their families.
    Offer clear advice, reassurance, and health education.
    Communicate sensitive information with compassion and professionalism.

Teamwork & Leadership

  • Work collaboratively with the wider healthcare team.
    Support junior staff and student nurses through supervision and mentoring.
    Take charge of the ward when required, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Quality & Development

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
    Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
    Engage in continuous professional development and training.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Nursing
    Registered Children’s Nurse (RSCN) with current UK registration

Experience

  • Experience in a relevant clinical setting
    Commitment to ongoing professional development

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of current paediatric nursing practices and national guidelines
    Strong clinical judgement and communication skills

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff or students
    Awareness of audit processes and service improvement initiatives
