Overview
We are offering a flexible and rewarding opportunity for a Salaried General Practitioner to join our established group of practices across Tameside. This permanent role is designed for GPs who enjoy variety in their work while still having a consistent base practice.
You’ll primarily be based at The Highlands Surgery, with occasional sessions across other local practices when additional clinical support is required. This structure allows you to gain broad experience while working within supportive, well-organised teams.
With flexible sessions (3, 6, or 8 per week), a competitive salary of £11,000 per session (including indemnity), and no weekend commitments, this role is well-suited to those seeking both professional development and work-life balance.

Your Day-to-Day Work
Core Responsibilities
- Provide routine GP consultations and continuity of care at your main practice
Manage administrative tasks such as reviewing test results and hospital correspondence
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
Deliver safe, evidence-based care aligned with NHS England standards
Cross-Practice Support
- Offer short-term clinical cover across other network practices when needed
Support teams during GP leave or staffing gaps
Adapt to different practice workflows while maintaining consistent care standards
Team & Collaboration
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams including nurses, pharmacists, and trainees
Contribute to a positive, respectful team culture
Engage in learning and development opportunities within a training-focused environment
About the Organisation
HT Practice operates across several well-regarded surgeries in Tameside, including The Highlands Surgery, Medlock Vale, King Street Medical Centre, and West End Medical Centre.

Who We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria
- Full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practise
Completion of MRCGP (or close to completion)
Inclusion on the NHS GP Performers List (or eligibility)
Recent experience in UK General Practice
Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Competence in clinical IT systems such as EMIS and Docman
Right to work in the UK or eligibility for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working across multiple practices or networks
Interest in specialist areas (e.g. women’s health, palliative care, teaching)
Previous involvement in training or mentoring
Additional relevant qualifications or certifications
Compliance & Safeguarding
This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in line with UK regulations.
