We are seeking compassionate, motivated, and enthusiastic Healthcare Support Assistants to join Eliot Ward, an inpatient medical unit dedicated to supporting patients who require acute medical care.
This ward plays a vital role in helping patients receive timely treatment, regain independence, and return home as safely and quickly as possible.
You will be part of a friendly multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high standards of fundamental care under the supervision of registered nurses.
About the role
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support patients with their daily needs while contributing to safe, high-quality care delivery. You will work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive person-centred support throughout their hospital stay.

Key responsibilities
 Patient care delivery
- Assist patients with personal care including hygiene, mobility, and nutrition
- Support patients in maintaining dignity, comfort, and independence
- Help monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
 Team working
- Work under the supervision of registered nurses
- Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team
- Contribute to a safe, supportive ward environment
 Clinical support
- Assist with basic clinical tasks as trained (e.g., observations)
- Support care planning goals for patients
- Ensure accurate communication of patient needs
 Communication & care
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff
- Provide reassurance and emotional support to patients
- Maintain a kind, respectful, and professional approach at all times
Working pattern
- Flexible shift patterns required (including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays)
- Participation in on-call service after training (if required)
- Full training and supervision provided

Desirable experience:
- Previous experience in a healthcare or care setting
- NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare (or willingness to work towards it)
- Basic Life Support training
Training & development
