About the role
As a Community Staff Nurse, you’ll work across the Bridgwater and West Somerset area, delivering care to patients with a wide range of needs. No two days are the same—this role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to build strong relationships with patients and families.
You’ll be part of a team that works collaboratively across services, including initiatives designed to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.
Working pattern
Day shifts typically between:
- 8:00am – 4:00pm
9:00am – 5:00pm
10:00am – 6:00pm
One twilight shift per week: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
1 in 4 weekends (with enhanced pay)
No night shifts
Flexible and part-time options available
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required. Mileage costs are reimbursed.
Your responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care in patients’ homes
Manage complex clinical conditions with confidence and compassion
Develop and implement personalised, holistic care plans
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Hospital@Home services
Make independent clinical decisions with support from experienced colleagues
Skills and experience you’ll develop
This role offers excellent opportunities to broaden your clinical expertise, including:
- Intravenous (IV) medication administration
Palliative and end-of-life care
Complex wound care
Diabetes management
Catheter and continence care
PICC line and medication management
Drain and tube care
Comprehensive training and mentorship are provided, including support from dedicated Clinical Lead Nurses. Newly qualified nurses are also welcome and will benefit from a structured preceptorship programme.

A degree or diploma in Adult Nursing
