Role Overview
Medivet is seeking an experienced and motivated Veterinary Surgeon to take on an Area Vet position across a group of practices in the Chelmsford region.
This is a hybrid clinical and leadership role, combining hands-on veterinary work with responsibility for guiding, supporting, and developing multiple practice teams. You will play a key part in maintaining high clinical standards, improving patient outcomes, and strengthening collaboration across the cluster.
The role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, leadership responsibility, and influencing clinical practice beyond a single site.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
- Deliver high-quality veterinary care in both consultations and surgical procedures
Create tailored treatment plans in partnership with pet owners
Ensure compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
Maintain excellent patient care and client communication
Leadership & Support
- Provide clinical guidance to veterinary surgeons and nursing teams across multiple practices
Support case management, decision-making, and complex clinical scenarios
Mentor colleagues and contribute to skill development within the cluster
Promote consistent clinical standards across all sites
Quality & Development
- Support clinical governance and best practice implementation
Contribute to CPD delivery, training sessions, and internal learning
Encourage innovation and continuous improvement in clinical services
About You
You are a confident and approachable Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys both clinical work and leadership responsibilities. You will bring strong organisational skills and a passion for delivering high-quality care across multiple teams.
Essential qualities include:
- RCVS registration (MRCVS)
Strong clinical competence in general practice
Leadership or mentoring experience (desirable)
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A proactive, supportive approach to clinical development
