About the Role
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced operations professional to take on the role of Faculty Director of Operations within UCL Laws.
Working closely with the Dean, you will play a central role in shaping how the Faculty operates, ensuring that systems, resources, and teams are aligned to support outstanding teaching and research.
You will lead professional services across the Faculty, driving efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement in a complex and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Act as a key advisor to the Dean on operational and strategic matters
Ensure the Faculty operates efficiently and sustainably
Align resources, processes, and systems with long-term academic goals
Operational Management
- Lead and manage all professional services teams within the Faculty
Oversee financial planning, resource allocation, and operational performance
Ensure high-quality support for academic staff and students
Change & Transformation
- Lead and implement change initiatives to improve services and efficiency
Contribute to UCL-wide transformation programmes
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
Collaboration & Representation
- Work closely with senior academic leaders and stakeholders
Represent the Faculty in university-wide committees and projects
Build strong relationships across departments and external partners
About You
Essential Experience
- Significant experience in senior operational leadership roles
Proven ability to manage complex organisations or departments
Strong financial, strategic, and resource management skills
Experience leading change and transformation initiatives
Track record of developing high-performing teams
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strategic thinking with a practical, solution-focused approach

Qualifications
Degree-level education (postgraduate qualification desirable or equivalent experience)
