Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Clinical Lead to join the Female Adult Acute Mental Health Ward at Foss Park Hospital, York.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate mental health professional to step into a leadership role within a forward-thinking NHS Trust. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting team development and service innovation.
Applicants must have a minimum of 18 months’ post-qualification experience and have completed a recognised preceptorship or competency framework.
This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the UK Skilled Worker route
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Provide strong clinical leadership and coordinate shifts effectively
Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care
Administer medications, including injections, and monitor physical health
Support complex care needs, risk management, and safeguarding
Team Leadership & Development
- Support and mentor nursing and multidisciplinary staff
Provide clinical supervision and guidance
Assist the Ward Manager in maintaining high standards of care
Contribute to staff training, induction, and development
Multidisciplinary Working
- Collaborate with nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and medical staff
Engage with patients, families, and carers to support recovery
Promote holistic, therapeutic, and person-centred care
Quality & Governance
Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with clinical governance and safeguarding policies
Maintain accurate records in line with data protection standards

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) (RMNH/RNLD)
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Practice Supervisor/Assessor qualification (or willingness within 6 months)
Training in clinical supervision (or willingness to complete)
Essential Experience
- Minimum 18 months post-qualification experience
Experience in mental health settings and multidisciplinary teams
Experience providing supervision and mentoring
Involvement in quality improvement activities
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of evidence-based mental health care
Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment
Understanding of clinical governance and research methods
Knowledge of medicines management
