Job Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for a flexible and motivated Salaried General Practitioner to join a network of established GP practices across Tameside, including The Highlands Surgery, Medlock Vale, King Street Medical Centre, and West End Medical Centre.
This floater-style role offers variety and career development within a supportive environment, allowing you to work across multiple practices while maintaining a primary base site. It is ideal for GPs seeking a portfolio career without the additional pressures of practice management.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Deliver high-quality primary care consultations (face-to-face, telephone, and online)
Manage routine GP responsibilities including patient consultations and administrative tasks (e.g. blood results, hospital correspondence)
Provide clinical cover at other practices within the network when required
Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation using EMIS and Docman systems
Patient Safety & Governance
- Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based care in line with national guidelines
Participate in safeguarding processes for children and vulnerable adults
Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and continuous quality improvement
Work in accordance with Care Quality Commission standards
Team Collaboration
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals
Support a positive, collaborative, and inclusive working culture
Engage in clinical meetings and shared learning across practices
Administrative Responsibilities
- Process prescriptions, referrals, and clinical documentation efficiently
Maintain accurate patient records and workflow management
Use digital systems effectively to support patient care delivery
Professional Development
- Maintain full registration with the General Medical Council
Participate in appraisal, revalidation, and CPD activities
Explore opportunities to develop specialist clinical interests or teaching roles
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Qualified GP with MRCGP (or near completion)
Full registration with the General Medical Council and licence to practise
Inclusion on the NHS GP Performers List (or eligibility)
Recent experience in UK General Practice
Strong clinical, communication, and organisational skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Right to work in the UK or eligibility for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working across multiple GP practices or networks
Special clinical interests (e.g. women’s health, minor surgery, palliative care)
Experience in training, mentoring, or teaching environments
Familiarity with EMIS, Docman, or similar systems
