Job Description
A Role That Truly Fits Around Your Life
If you’re a vet who enjoys emergency work but doesn’t want it to take over your life, this role offers something different.
Join a dedicated Out of Hours (OOH) team supporting the farming community across Moray. You’ll focus on meaningful, hands-on emergency care—while benefiting from a rota that gives you three weeks off out of every four.
This is a rare opportunity to build strong clinical experience in farm and equine emergencies while still having the time to enjoy life outside of work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver emergency veterinary care to farm and equine clients
Manage a varied caseload including obstetrics and surgical interventions
Work independently during on-call hours with full support when needed
Build trusted relationships with local farmers and practice teams
Provide essential out-of-hours cover that keeps farms running smoothly
Whether you’re responding from home (if local) or staying in provided accommodation, you’ll play a vital role in the region’s agricultural community.

This is a hands-on, practical role with plenty of variety:
- Frequent farm emergencies, especially during lambing and calving seasons

Equine emergency work
Seasonal intensity balanced by quieter periods for rest and recovery
Ideal for vets who enjoy problem-solving and working in real-world, high-impact situations.

- 1 week on / 3 weeks off (standard option)
Shifts:
6pm–8am (Monday–Thursday)
6pm Friday – 8am Monday
Alternative 1 week on / 1 week off option available
This structure allows you to fully switch off and enjoy extended time away from work.
What You’ll Receive
- Salary up to £31,000 (depending on experience)
£7,500 relocation allowance
Fully provided accommodation during working weeks
Company vehicle for work use
