About the Role

A rewarding opportunity has become available for a Farm Out-of-Hours Veterinary Surgeon to support agricultural clients across West Wales. This role is centred on providing reliable emergency veterinary services to livestock farms during evenings and weekends.

Working within the Farm OOH service, you will assist farmers when urgent care is needed most, ensuring livestock health and welfare are maintained while supporting the sustainability of local farming businesses.

Clinical Responsibilities

This role focuses primarily on farm animal emergency care, with a caseload that reflects the seasonal nature of livestock farming.

Your duties may include:

  • Responding to emergency calls from cattle, sheep and mixed farms
  • Managing urgent medical cases and trauma presentations
  • Performing obstetrical procedures during lambing and calving seasons
  • Delivering professional advice and support to local farmers
  • Maintaining accurate treatment records and clinical documentation
  • Working independently while maintaining communication with practice colleagues
  • Professional veterinary standards are regulated by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
