Job Description
Join a Practice Supporting Rural Farming Communities
Seafield Vets is proud to support the agricultural community across Moray and the surrounding areas of northeast Scotland. Our team works closely with local livestock and equine owners, providing professional veterinary care when it matters most.
This position sits within our Farm24 emergency service, which ensures continuous veterinary support for farms and equine clients outside of regular daytime hours. The service allows daytime veterinary teams to focus on preventative healthcare and herd management, while the out-of-hours team handles urgent and emergency situations.
If you enjoy practical farm work, emergency medicine, and building strong relationships with rural clients, this role provides a rewarding and varied career path.
A Diverse Emergency Caseload
Working within our Farm24 team means responding to a wide range of farm and equine emergencies, often involving critical decision-making and hands-on treatment.
Surgical obstetrics is a common feature of the caseload, particularly during the busy spring lambing and calving seasons. As a result, this role is particularly suited to veterinarians with a strong interest in surgery and large animal emergency care.
Depending on where you live, you may attend emergency calls directly from home or stay in the comfortable accommodation provided during your working week.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Responding to emergency farm and equine veterinary cases
- Performing procedures such as obstetrics and surgical interventions
- Supporting livestock farmers with urgent animal health concerns
- Building long-term relationships with local agricultural clients
- Working independently while maintaining strong communication with the wider veterinary team
Work–Life Balance That Truly Works
One of the most attractive aspects of this role is the structured rota designed to maximise time off.
Standard rota pattern:
- 1 week on duty followed by 3 weeks off
- On-call shifts run 6:00 pm – 8:00 am Monday to Thursday
- Weekend coverage runs 6:00 pm Friday – 8:00 am Monday during the working week
- An alternative 1 week on / 1 week off schedule may also be discussed if preferred, with salary adjusted accordingly.
- This unique rota allows you to enjoy extended time away from work for travel, hobbies, or rest.
Life in Moray
Keith, located in the heart of Moray in northeast Scotland, offers easy access to spectacular landscapes and outdoor activities.

For those seeking a quieter lifestyle with strong community connections and access to nature, Moray provides an excellent place to live and work.
Salary and Additional Support
- The role includes a competitive salary and several practical benefits to help you settle into the position.
