Role Overview
This consultant post offers a rewarding opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking psychiatrist to contribute to a transforming NHS organisation while maintaining safe, responsive, and high-quality mental health services.
The successful candidate will provide senior clinical leadership within community mental health services, supporting a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care across a range of pathways. The role may involve clinical input across community services, inpatient settings, crisis and home treatment teams, recovery services, and early intervention in psychosis.
As part of the Trust’s recruitment initiative, eligible appointees may receive a £30,000 Golden Hello, paid in staged instalments over two years, subject to terms and qualifying criteria.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will play a central role in ensuring safe, effective, and recovery-focused care for adults with complex mental health needs.
Clinical Leadership
- Provide expert psychiatric assessment and formulation using a biopsychosocial approach.
- Support the multidisciplinary team (MDT) with clinical supervision, decision-making, and case management.
- Maintain a smaller, complex caseload to allow flexible and responsive intervention for high-risk or severely unwell patients.
Quality and Safety
- Promote evidence-based practice and recovery-oriented care planning.
- Lead on risk assessment, safeguarding, and safe clinical governance.
- Work collaboratively with carers, inpatient units, and community partners to ensure continuity of care.
Service Development
- Contribute to service improvement and outcome monitoring.
- Support MDT learning through teaching, supervision, and case discussions.
- Help shape integrated pathways across community and crisis services.

Essential Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
- GMC Registration and Licensing
- MRCPsych or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Eligibility for the Specialist Register, or within six months of receiving CCT in General Adult Psychiatry

- Approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act
- Ability to provide senior clinical leadership within multidisciplinary settings
- The GMC maintains official registers to ensure doctors meet professional standards required to practise safely in the UK.
