Role Overview
Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a compassionate and detail-focused Registered Nurse who is interested in developing their career within a specialised Radiology environment.
This position offers the opportunity to combine hands-on patient care with technical clinical practice, supporting individuals undergoing diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology procedures. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring patients feel informed, reassured, and safe throughout their treatment journey.
About the Department
Working within a fast-paced radiology service, you will collaborate closely with consultant radiologists, radiographers, and the wider multidisciplinary team. The department delivers a broad range of diagnostic and interventional procedures and maintains high standards of patient safety, infection control, and clinical governance.
The role includes supporting care across theatre and day-unit settings, particularly in vascular and neuro-interventional services.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Prepare and support patients before, during, and after imaging or interventional procedures
- Monitor physiological observations and respond to changes in patient condition
- Administer IV medications, including contrast agents and conscious sedation
- Provide recovery care and complete nurse-led discharge in line with departmental protocols
- Offer emotional support to patients and their families throughout treatment
Procedural Support
- Assist as scrub or circulating nurse during specific interventional procedures
- Work safely in environments involving radiation and use protective lead garments
- Maintain strict adherence to recognised radiation protection standards
- Contribute to safe and effective theatre practice
Team & Professional Duties
- Work collaboratively with radiology clinicians and support staff
- Assist in mentoring student nurses and paramedic learners
- Participate in the on-call rota
- Maintain continuous professional development and clinical competence
