About the Role
The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading is pleased to invite applications for a Lectureship in Psychology on a permanent basis. This role offers flexibility, with appointments available on either a full-time or part-time contract.
You will join a friendly, collegiate, and research-active academic community committed to delivering an outstanding student experience while producing internationally recognised research. The successful appointment will contribute to both high-quality teaching and supervision and the continued development of the School’s research profile, building on our strong performance in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF).
Areas of Expertise
We welcome applications from candidates whose teaching and research interests complement or extend our existing strengths. Areas of particular interest include:
- Health psychology
- Developmental psychopathology
- Environmental sustainability and behaviour
- Forensic or criminal psychology
We are also keen to hear from applicants with interdisciplinary research agendas, including those using TMS or MRI methods, or whose work aligns with the University’s specialist facilities such as:
- The Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics (CINN)
- The Anxiety and Depression in Young People (AnDY) Research Clinic
Teaching & Research Contribution
In this role, you will:
- Deliver engaging teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programmes
- Supervise student research projects and dissertations
- Develop and pursue an ambitious, high-quality research agenda
- Publish research outputs appropriate to your career stage
- Contribute to grant applications and research group development
- Support a positive, inclusive, and high-quality student experience
About You
You will be a strong candidate if you can demonstrate:
- A PhD in Psychology or a closely related discipline
- Specialist expertise in at least one of the areas listed above
- A developing or established publication record
- Clear potential to secure external research funding
- Experience of teaching and/or supervision at university level
- A strong commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and student support
