About the Opportunity
As the University of Reading marks its Centenary year in 2026, we are looking for an experienced and creative Alumni and Supporter Communications Officer to join our Alumni and Supporter Engagement team.
This role offers a unique chance to help shape meaningful connections with our global alumni community at a landmark moment in the University’s history. Working within the Communications and Engagement department, you will collaborate widely across academic Schools, professional services, and external partners to deliver engaging and impactful communications.
About the Team
The Alumni team sits within the External Relations Directorate and plays a central role in nurturing lifelong relationships with more than 300,000 alumni worldwide. Our work supports the University’s strategic ambitions by keeping alumni informed, involved, and inspired — whether through digital storytelling, events, or opportunities to reconnect and contribute.
Your Role
As Alumni and Supporter Communications Officer, you will focus on developing and delivering compelling content across a range of channels, with a strong emphasis on digital communications.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Creating, sourcing, and shaping engaging content for alumni and supporter audiences
- Delivering communications activity in line with agreed plans, timelines, and priorities
- Working closely with colleagues across the University to gather stories and insights
- Ensuring University messaging aligns with alumni interests, informed by research, feedback, and performance analysis
- Supporting Centenary-related communications and celebrations, helping alumni feel part of this milestone year
What We’re Looking For
You will bring:
- Proven experience in marketing or communications, ideally within a complex or large organisation
- Strong creative skills, with the ability to turn ideas into engaging content
- Excellent planning and organisational abilities
- Confidence in building relationships and sourcing content from a range of stakeholders
- A thoughtful, data-informed approach to communications, using insight to improve impact
