Make a real difference in older people’s mental health care
Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join Roseberry Ward, a 15-bed mixed-gender functional inpatient ward specialising in the care of older adults.
This is a rewarding opportunity whether you’re an experienced RMN, newly qualified, or a student nurse due to register within the next three months. You’ll be supported to grow your confidence, develop specialist skills, and deliver compassionate, person-centred care every day.
A full preceptorship programme, structured induction, and ongoing training will be provided to help you build a strong foundation in this specialist area of mental health nursing.
About Roseberry Ward
Roseberry Ward is based within the Bowes Lyon Unit on the Lanchester Road Hospital site. The hospital offers a calm, therapeutic environment with dedicated vocational and activity spaces that support recovery and safe discharge planning.
The ward works within a strong multidisciplinary team (MDT) model, ensuring patients receive holistic, evidence-based care tailored to their individual needs.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Staff Nurse on Roseberry Ward, you’ll be a key part of a supportive MDT that includes nurses, healthcare assistants, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other professionals.
Your duties will include:
- Delivering high-quality, compassionate mental health care
- Administering medication and completing physical health observations
- Spending meaningful one-to-one time with patients
- Coordinating shifts and, depending on experience, acting as nurse in charge
- Supporting recovery-focused and person-centred care planning
- Working closely with families, carers, and partner agencies
- All wards are equipped with therapeutic and activity spaces to support recovery and timely discharge in line with NHS best practice
Working pattern
- 12-hour shifts
- Rotational days, nights, and public holidays
- Working hours aligned with UK employment and working time regulations

About you
Essential requirements
- Current NMC registration (RMN or RNLD)
- Experience working with people experiencing mental ill health
- Ability to work within an inpatient and multidisciplinary setting
- Commitment to person-centred, recovery-focused care
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable
- Awareness of psychological models of care
- Experience or interest in research and service development
Safeguarding & compliance
This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975
Visa sponsorship & UK registration
