About the Role

Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Radiographer to take a lead role in quality management within our Radiology Department. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence clinical standards, operational efficiency, and patient safety across a busy acute hospital setting.

The Senior Radiographer will provide operational and clinical leadership, ensuring the smooth running of radiology services, supporting the IT/PACS team, and guiding staff to maintain high-quality service delivery. The role demands adaptability, as evening, night, and weekend shifts may be required as part of a seven-day service model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support quality initiatives within the Radiology Department
  • Assist the IT/PACS team in operational tasks and provide guidance to colleagues
  • Ensure adherence to departmental policies, protocols, and quality standards
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to junior radiographers and other staff
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to maintain patient-focused care
  • Participate in CPD, audits, and service improvement projects
  • Be adaptable to work across different shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential:

  • DCR or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration

Desirable:

  • Evidence of postgraduate study or CPD
  • Additional training in advanced imaging or leadership

Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Significant experience at Band 5 level with competency evidence
  • Broad knowledge of general radiography, including ED, orthopaedics, and theatre imaging
  • Previous supervisory experience within NHS settings

Desirable:

  • Experience in out-of-hours service delivery
  • Familiarity with IT/PACS systems
