Make Your Mark in Rheumatology Care Across Somerset

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Consultant Rheumatologist to join a forward-thinking, supportive team and play a key role in shaping the future of rheumatology services across Somerset.

You’ll be part of a growing service with real scope to influence clinical direction, develop specialist interests, and improve outcomes for patients living with complex rheumatological conditions. While the post is advertised as full time (10 PAs), we value flexibility and are very open to discussions about job planning that supports both service delivery and your work–life balance.

The role can be based at Yeovil District Hospital or Musgrove Park Hospital, with close collaboration across sites and community services throughout the county.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

In this role, you will:

  • Provide expert assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with rheumatological conditions
  • Lead and deliver outpatient clinics, working closely with specialist nursing colleagues
  • Contribute to inpatient care and ward referrals, supporting colleagues across specialties
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, helping to strengthen and expand countywide services
  • Take an active role in service development, quality improvement and clinical leadership
  • Participate in on-call and cross-cover arrangements, including managing urgent and emergency presentations
  • This is a role for a clinician who enjoys combining excellent patient care with service innovation and teamwork.

Essential Qualifications & Registration

To be considered, you must have:

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • CCT (or within six months of award) in Rheumatology
  • MRCP (or equivalent)
  • Applicants must hold current UK professional registration.
