About the Opportunity

The University of Reading is looking for an Energy Analyst to join its forward-thinking Sustainability and Decarbonisation team within Estates. This permanent role offers the chance to make a measurable impact by helping the University reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs, and cut carbon emissions across its estate.

You will use your analytical expertise to track, interpret, and present energy and utilities data, supporting informed decision-making and long-term sustainability planning. Working as part of an award-winning sustainability team, you will play a key role in monitoring energy performance and verifying the real-world impact of carbon reduction initiatives.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Monitoring and analysing utilities consumption and carbon emissions across the University estate
  • Producing clear, accurate reports on energy performance and carbon footprint trends
  • Supporting energy, carbon, and travel reduction initiatives by tracking and validating savings
  • Presenting complex data in a meaningful way to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Sustainability team to deliver University-wide decarbonisation goals

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be well suited to this role if you can demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence in graphical data presentation
  • Previous experience in an energy-related or analytical role
  • The ability to communicate complex data clearly to a range of stakeholders
  • Practical knowledge of energy monitoring, measurement, and verification techniques
  • An understanding of energy legislation and policy relevant to the public sector
