Staff Nurse – Paediatrics (Maternity Cover)

About the Role and Howard Ward
Howard Ward is a dynamic, 20-bed general paediatric unit providing specialized care for infants, children, and young people (0–18 years). Our facility includes a High Dependency Unit (HDU) and a dedicated Children’s Assessment Unit.
By joining our friendly and well-established team, you will sharpen your clinical skills in:
- Â Advanced respiratory support and fluid management.
- Â Stabilization of critically ill paediatric patients.
- Â Acute surgical and medical nursing.
- Â Complex pain management.

- Â Registration: You must hold a current UK NMC registration.
- Â Experience: While paediatric experience is a plus, we welcome applications from Registered Nurses with a keen interest in learning this specialty.

Important Note on Sponsorship: This role is eligible for the UKVI Skilled Worker route (salary threshold £25,000+). However, please note we are not currently hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses directly for this post.
Key Responsibilities
As a Staff Nurse on Howard Ward, you will:
- Â Deliver Exceptional Care: Assess, plan, and implement individualized care for a diverse group of young patients.
- Â Clinical Leadership: Confidently take charge of a patient group and, when required, oversee ward operations in the absence of senior management.
- Â Safety & Compliance: Manage medication administration in line with Trust policy and maintain precise patient records via the SEMA system.
- Â Mentorship: Support the next generation of healthcare professionals by teaching and assessing students and learners within the clinical area.
- Â Communication: Work seamlessly with our multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective discharge planning and proactive complaint management.
