The Opportunity
Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is inviting applications from experienced and motivated General Practitioners who are passionate about medical education and the future of general practice.
This role offers the chance to shape undergraduate medical teaching within a progressive, research-active medical school, while maintaining a balanced portfolio career. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching that reflects modern general practice, integrated care, and patient-centred communication.
Working closely with an established GP education team, you will contribute to curriculum development, support GP placement networks, and help ensure students receive engaging, inclusive, and clinically relevant learning experiences.
What You’ll Be Doing
- As a Clinical Senior General Practice Teaching Fellow, your work will include:
- Designing and delivering undergraduate teaching in general practice, clinical skills, and medical communication
- Contributing to the development of innovative teaching and assessment materials aligned with current NHS practice
- Supporting the recruitment, training, and quality assurance of GP placement practices and GP tutors
- Working collaboratively with academic, clinical, and administrative colleagues across BSMS
- Helping ensure teaching reflects national standards for medical education and patient safety
- Undertaking occasional travel to GP practices across the region
- All teaching and educational activity will align with national guidance from bodies such as the General Medical Council (GMC) and the NHS
