Shape the Future of Rheumatology in Somerset
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant Rheumatologist to join our expanding rheumatology service in Somerset. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in developing high-quality, patient-centred rheumatology care across the county while shaping services around your clinical interests and expertise.
The post is offered as 10 programmed activities, with genuine flexibility around working patterns. We welcome conversations about part-time working or job planning that supports both service needs and work–life balance.
You will be based at either Yeovil District Hospital or Musgrove Park Hospital, working closely with an established and growing multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative, high-standard rheumatology services.
Your Role
As a Consultant Rheumatologist, you will:
- Deliver expert diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of rheumatological conditions
- Lead and run outpatient rheumatology clinics
- Provide inpatient rheumatology care and consultant advice for ward referrals
- Work collaboratively with specialist nurses and allied health professionals
- Contribute to service development, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in consultant cover arrangements and manage urgent clinical issues when required
- Take an active role in clinical leadership and mentoring within the department

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- CCT / CCST in Rheumatology (or within six months of completion)
- MRCP (or equivalent)
