£162 - £198 / year

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Electronics Engineering Manager to take the lead on designing and delivering cutting-edge high-speed analog and mixed-signal electronics that power our innovative optical compute core.

This is a pivotal leadership position that blends deep technical expertise with hands-on team management, project delivery, and strategic resource planning. You’ll collaborate closely with our Electronics Architect to turn high-level technical vision into reality, while also owning people leadership, hiring, mentoring, and cross-team alignment.

You will partner daily with colleagues in ASIC design, optics, firmware, and system reliability to keep our analog electronics roadmap tightly synced with overall system targets and key business deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Delivery

  • Grow and lead a strong, high-performing team of analog and mixed-signal engineers: handle recruitment, ongoing coaching, career progression discussions, 1:1 meetings, and performance management to attract and retain exceptional talent.
  • Champion agile hardware development practices to enable fast prototyping and iteration, while never compromising on reliability, quality, or scalability for production.
  • Oversee resource allocation and planning for critical activities including PCB prototyping, assembly, and development of test fixtures and equipment.
  • Keep senior leadership and key stakeholders informed with clear, timely updates on program progress, emerging risks, and proactive mitigation plans.
    Technical Direction
  • Offer direct, hands-on guidance on the design, simulation, implementation, and validation of analog and mixed-signal subsystems to guarantee excellent performance and on-time delivery.
  • Translate the Electronics Architect’s system-level strategy and architecture into practical, executable engineering roadmaps and detailed work plans.
  • Lead critical design reviews and best-practice sessions covering schematics, PCB layout, simulation approaches, signal integrity, and hardware bring-up/debugging.
    Drive effective collaboration across Optical,
  • Embedded/Firmware, and Reliability teams to achieve seamless integration, manufacturability, and adherence to robust analog design standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BEng/MEng) or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on experience designing high-performance analog or mixed-signal systems, plus 3+ years in a people-leadership role managing engineering teams.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership of a sophisticated electronics product from early concept through to successful volume manufacturing.
  • Strong specialist knowledge in low-noise, wide-bandwidth analog front-ends (e.g., TIA, LNA, ADC/DAC interfacing).
  • Expert-level understanding of high-speed differential signaling (>10 Gb/s), impedance matching, and signal integrity techniques to minimize crosstalk, skew, reflections, and other issues.
  • Proficient with leading EDA and simulation tools (such as Altium, Cadence, Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, or equivalents).
  • Well-versed in EMC/EMI compliance, thermal design considerations, and automated testing strategies.
  • Outstanding communicator — able to engage deeply with technical specialists while clearly explaining complex topics to senior executives.

What We Offer

  • Base salary range: £162,000 – £198,000 per year, based on your experience, expertise, and location.
  • Generous equity package — you’ll have meaningful ownership in the company’s future success.
  • Modern headquarters in the heart of King’s Cross, London  at the center of the city’s thriving AI and tech ecosystem.
Location bonus — extra pay supplement if you live within 20 minutes of the office (and we love candidates within a 45-minute commute).
